PLOTTING (RETIRED)
⚰︎ ⍢ ⌲ ⍚ PLOTTING:
THIS PAGE HAS BEEN RETIRED. Please submit plotting requests to the NEW PLOTTING PAGE.
This plotting post facilitates player-mod communication about IC plot ideas of various types, from questions about the setting and character actions influencing it, to plot suggestions and player-run plots. Before coming to this page with an idea, players should ensure they have discussed it with the other directly impacted or participating players.
The best approach to these requests is for players to explain the intended outcome of the idea is so that the mods can collaborate with players on a way to make it happen within the context of the setting.
Fill out the form below in order to submit a request, and label the subject line with one of the request types explained further down the page:
This type of submission is for players who need either mod guidance on brainstorming or additional information about the setting (or who have minor suggestions for setting additions, like buildings or plants/animals). Players can share a goal or point of interest and ask how to make it happen, or simply ask how their character might achieve something.
Think of this submission type as information gathering. As a result, these requests are freeform and informal, sparking a collaborative discussion with the mods. Note: submitting a brainstorming request does not mean committing to the IC actions being discussed, so this is a good way to explore possibilities.
Players submitting this type of request are welcome to forego the form at the top of this page if they prefer.
This submission type is for reporting character actions that might have IC ramifications within the setting — such as when a player's own character dies, when they destroy or steal NPC property or kill more than three people, or when they take actions that might alter their influence over the setting/plot.
Please understand that these may involve positive or negative consequences, or just neutral impacts! Players should always be clear and transparent about their preferences for the consequences their characters face because we're here to facilitate your good time. In addition, bear in mind that negative consequences are generally temporary, and characters can always come back here with a new plot to try and adjust their reputation with a plot designed to positively impact the town's perception of them.
Except in cases of their own character's death (which need only be reported with a single line and can skip the form), players should wait for mod reply before making wide reference to these events and their details, as requests may lead to clarification or be altered to accommodate some aspect of the setting. Please reach out as soon as possible to keep the mods informed.
These submissions are required for plots that involve a group of five or more player characters and/or any mod NPCs, or those which would impact the setting of the game.
These plots cannot be implemented until approved. If a player wants their plot to be a surprise to the rest of the game, feel free to bring it over to the MOD CONTACT post.

- If I want Daenerys to gain political power, is that possible here? How would it work?
- How big are the farms beyond the walls? What type of farming do they do?
- Can I invent a weed in the farms beyond the wall that has aphrodisiac pollen?
- I want Juno to open a bowling alley. She has CR with Nagai Kei, who works as a carpenter, and he can help her with making wooden pins and balls. How might she secure a location and what else might she need?

Pick one of the following and delete the rest:
• An item from the Minstrel's inventory
Further details: Interested in having Wesley acquire some new books now that they as a collective can read Rubean & he really needs to stock the library with more diverse titles. (And doing it by hand and out of mind is slow!) Whether it's from the Duchess' library or any other, ideally it'd be 3 fair sized crates of varied books on different topics (and in different languages but primarily Rubean). Wesley's goal is to try and get more books in circulation and so if he also can get some willing donations or trades going with Rubean NPCs to keep things fresh moving forward, that'd be a cool next step. But this coin is mostly just to get a bulk of books to start things off.

While the Minstrel will fulfill the request for crates of books in exchange for Wesley's high esteem (it's not really clear what this means, except that Wesley will find himself gushing about the Minstrel whenever he comes up henceforth), he will emphasize that he is unable to provide books in Rubean. Why, you may ask? Because Rubean is only spoken in this dimension.
"It's interesting," the Minstrel says. "Most languages, you get close variants, world-to-world. Not this one."
However, he will provide a number of texts in languages familiar to the Void-touched: English, Pseudo-Irish, Classical Italian, Common, the English of the Seven Kingdoms, Ravkan, Shu, French, and House. The three large crates, crafted from weathered wood and adorned with colorful stickers, are already inside the library the morning after they make their deal.
Notable titles (in unexpected languages that don't seem to 'match' their content—e.g., a Britney Spears memoir in Shu) include:
Crate 1: Biographies and Travel Guides
Crate 2: Fiction, Romances & Self-Help
Crate 3: History & Science
If you have any other specific titles you'd like to be included, just mention them here or on the library page. But in general, feel free to assume the aforementioned categories were broadly represented in language and content, and that the total number of books approaches 150.

Happy to take some liberties and update the library page but here are a few to confirm the status of and if they'd be included before being added:
- a few strangely parodic superhero graphic novels, compendium style
- Nine House skin mags or some universe's Playboy/Playgirl equiv
- one of Ransom's grandfather's books (will leave title/content up to Jeeps)
- Istorii Sankt'ya ("The Lives of Saints") in Ravkan
- A cannibal cookbook of the Duchess' most favorite dishes, or similar content
Regarding books that would help improve or advance technology in Rubi, are there any restraints on what might be available? ("Electricity for Dummies" vs a very outdated textbook/guide, for example.) Interested in the topics of: fabric/textiles, greenery tips, home repair and first aid, human anatomy, electricity and other trades-like content suited to the time.
no subject
Available texts might provide a base understanding of some facets of the trades you described (Wireweaving for Dummies would introduce basic jewelry wire weaves, for instance). However, given the limited selection, no single subject will have the variety of texts necessary to become an expert in a trade (e.g., that one wireweaving book can't help you with other parts of jewelry-making, let alone stone-polishing).
In addition, they'll be from different civilizations and time periods. Even the texts in 21st century French might (which the interested character may not speak), for instance, depict instructions for electrical circuits on a planet with reversed polarities or currents that don't apply in Rubilykskoye. Ergo, even if multiple texts on a subject were found, not all of them will necessarily be practically useful in this setting.
If a player would like to use one of these texts as a starting point for advancing the setting's technology, they should describe that in a specific plotting request related to the specific impact they'd like to make, and not just take for granted that it can be found in the library. Our answers will vary based on: current state of that technology in Rubi, the amount of time/player effort put towards that project, the intended utilization of that technology increase, and what changes it might bring to the way people interact.
Transparently: this game is not intended to have contemporary 21st century technology or conveniences, as resource limitations are one of the ways that cults control their members. For this reason, we do not foresee approving any sudden updates to that level because it would fundamentally shift the vibe that players signed up for, both thematically and aesthetically. But we'd especially not approve radical setting changes based solely on this book selection due to its practical limitations.

Thank you again for this!
